Nara
Ancient capitals & forest paths

Go beyond a quick park visit: combine monumental temples with Naramachi streets, local food, or an overnight stay. Southern Nara and Yoshino deserve their own travel time.

Try Yoshino kudzu-based sweets or sake-lees pickles as distinct regional tastes. Narazuke can retain alcohol and is not suitable for every diner.

Make a separate trip to Yoshino

Walk the hillside temple town with time for elevation changes and transport. Peak blossom days are crowded; deeper mountain routes need separate planning.
